Controlled Burn

The planet is getting hotter. The beat is really good.

An environmental dance record where desire, consumption and a warming planet occupy the same night out.

01 / INSIDE THE RECORD

Why this album exists.

Controlled Burn deliberately refuses the expected sound of an environmental album. Under glossy dance-pop, UK garage and liquid drum-and-bass textures, it follows plastic, parcels, heatwaves, smoke, synthetic fashion, chemical persistence and unequal vulnerability. The narrator is not a detached lecturer: she loves the clothes, accepts the deliveries and keeps dancing even as the warnings arrive.

I wanted to explore the gap between knowing what is happening and living an ordinary pleasurable life inside the systems causing it. The music needs to be seductive enough for that contradiction to be real.

NARRATIVE ARCPleasure and consumption → ambient crisis → invisible persistence → inequality → warning → mortality.
